How was it for you? Let us know what was your experience of the 4 day excavation. Was this your first dig? Did you have a chance to listen to Carenza and Alex postulate on what we were finding? Would you do it again?lll

What a wonderful four days of late summer weather, spent investigating what it is that was on the mound that so many old and new Sharnbrook residents have at some point played on. When we rode up and down the slope, which we now realise is a moat, I never appreciated that I was riding where medieval maidens may have passed. Apart from the fun of gradually peeling layers of history from the ground and sieving out the pottery to find out who and when they lived there, it was great to catch up with people who I have not seen for over ten years. I await with anticipation the results of the pottery analysis – was it ALL Shelly ware??? and the resolution of the mystery of the pegs/nails.
My first experience of a dig well done to all. I had a great day painting the scene can’t wait to see all your finds. John.
I have never been involved in this type of investigation before, watched ‘Timeteam’ many times but never thought that I would ever be involved in such an experience, and so local to me. It was really great to be working alongside professional archeologists, particulary the lady of great note, Dr. Carenza Lewis. I found the whole experience very worthwhile, the actual excavation where we found evidence of burning and even at the last minute, a ‘Post hole’. Like Helen, I look forward to reviewing the reports of our pottery and other items.
