The visit included a guided tour of the site which highlighted both the roman and bronze age features present in this part of  the fenland.

The main feature is the 1km long wooden causeway which ran between two pieces of high ground. The causeway was made from 5 rows of stakes and then interwoven with other planks. There is evidence that one of the routes was used for making offerings because of the large number of broken, but valuable,  artefacts.

The visit culminated with a viewing of the boats recovered from the river bed which were all found with their transepts missing so they would sink.

The nature of the anaerobic soil means that artefacts are so well preserved
