The visit to the Whitbread family home was co-organised with the Langford Historical Society. The two groups were given a guided tour of the house and gardens by either Charles Whitbread or their archivist, James Collett-White.
Some of the furniture was common to that which had been at Colworth prior to the auction. The family interest in hunting and then animal conservation and cattle breeding was explained.
Later in June ……….To mark the end of BLARS Paths to Crime two year project which catalogued the 19th Century Quarter Sessions Court Rolls BLARS have launched a series of crime trails. Working with Bedford Borough Council’s rights of way team BLARS have created walks around Harrold and Odell and Sharnbrook.
The initial walk inevitably took longer than anticipated as further questions arose about the nature of the crimes. We were particularly interested to see how Robert Toll failed to escape justice after facing charges of damage to trees at Pavenham.
