The responsibility for organising and funding these events were assigned to each level of local governmnt. The events included many musical sessions and craft related activities, Industrial/business events were not particularly widespread. One of the goals was to fund activities which resulted in long-lasting enhancements to the community. The intention to build a weather -proof bus stop in Sharnbrook didn’t happen. Examples of the emblems on village name boards do still exist. The original metal plates may have been replaced by transfers.
The country’s main site for the Festival was on the south bank of the Thames where Festival Hall still remains. This did include an exhibition hall ceebrating engineering accomplishments.
