The dates of changes in technology can often be used to date a specific photograph. Changes in fashion or uniforms are likewise good indicators of when a photograph was taken and hence which generation of your family might be depicted in the portrait. These techniques were used to assess the likely dates of sample photographs that had been brought for examination.

Advice was given on long term storage of photographs with obvious pitfalls to avoid. This seven covered the new formats i.e. digital images held on archivable disks. Several techniques that may be used to recover or repair damaged images were explained.
