The talk highlighted how the town was greatly swelled by a large number of the Highland Regiment at the start of WW1 – details provided of billeting, training and parading.
This was a period of great change in the architecture of the High Street as well as the housing / schools in the southern area alongside London Road.
Then there was the Cinemas !
