Details

A talk and group tour of the Mills was wide ranging  and covered its inclusion in the Domesday Book and its current use as a Theatre venue. Ownership of the mills was detailed and the changes in technology from water to turbine in 1889 could still be seen on the ground floor. The steam chimney was removed in 1930 when a diesel engine was introduced.

The  tenancy was taken over by Daniel Hipwell in 1817.

Theatre productions started in 1943 with ‘Take a Dip’ and continued successfully during the whole of the war
