The tour included a visit to both the Dovecote and to the Stable. The occupational tasks within the Dovecote were explained. The fact that there is a large fireplace on the upper floor of the Stable still throws doubt on whether the building was not really built for another purpose.

The tour continued with a visit to the Parish Church and focused on the monuments relating to the Gostwick family and the tenure of the Revnd Augustus Orlebar who is related the the family at Hinwick.

The site of the ‘lost’ Manor was of interest to us all.

Willington Society are hosting an archaeology day in June 2015 and will include some digs that investigate these issues.
